  2. Attainment and Progress

Attainment and Progress

Attainment - the number of children that reach 'age related expectations'. For information on our school attainment, please visit our Key Stage 2 Results page.

Progress - the distance travelled between two points in time. This can be measured, for example, termly, yearly, throughout a key stage or throughout a child's entire time in school.

At Roos C.E. Primary School, expected progress means that children achieve in line with their prior attainment.

For example: a child that achieves the expected Early Learning Goal in the foundation stage would be expected to then achieve age related expectations at year 2 and then age related expectations in year 6.

A child that achieves exceeding in the Early Learning Goal in the foundation stage would then be expected to achieve greater depth within the standard at year 2 and then greater depth within the standard at year 6.

At Roos C.E. Primary School, better than expected progress means that children achieve greater than their prior attainment.

For example: a child that achieves the expected Early Learning Goal in the foundation stage may then achieve age related expectations at year 2 and then achieve greater depth within the standard, or a high scaled score, in year 6.

A child that achieves working towards the standard at year 2 may then achieve age related expectations at year 6 – this would be better than expected progress.

Progress is built into our school curriculum – year on year, skills and knowledge progressively build, becoming more challenging, with more breadth. To see further information about our school curriculum - click here

This means that expected progress, where children achieve in line with their prior attainment, is good.

The school uses a range of measures and evidence to measure individual progress for those children who do not reach age related expectations, due to SEND. For further information, The school's SENDCO, Mrs Elizabeth Crosby, is contactable through the school office.
